About me

I am an Assistant Professor and MacGillavry Fellow at the Video & Image Sense Lab at the Informatics Institute at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). I am also affiliated with the Department of Brain and Cognition at the Psychology Research Institute at the UvA. 

I study visual perception in the human brain using brain imaging techniques such as EEG, fMRI and ECoG, in combination with computational models, including deep neural networks.  The goal of my research is to find out how the human brain perceives and understands real-world images and videos.

I obtained my PhD at the UvA at the Department of Brain & Cognition in 2014. Before returning to the UvA in 2020, I completed two post-docs in the USA, at the Winawerlab at New York University and at the Section on Learning and Plasticity at the National Institutes of Health.
